Situado em meio a intermináveis vinhedos e bosques de ciprestes, essa mistura de ruínas romanas, palácios cor-de-rosa e sepulcros fantasiosos possui uma beleza romântica que é difícil de superestimar. Shakespeare ambientou Romeu e Julieta aqui, e provavelmente se divertiria ao saber que seus amantes imaginários se tornaram a principal atração turística de Verona. No entanto, Verona tem mais a oferecer do que apenas Romeu e Julieta. No centro de Verona, na praça Brà, está a quase perfeitamente preservada Arena Romana.
