Welcome to Sri Lanka, the pearl of the Indian Ocean! In keeping with Sri Lankan tradition, all of us here at Nature Voyage will like to extend to you our heartiest “Ayubowan!” (Traditional Sri Lankan greeting wishing long life to the other) On arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be met by your guide & transfer to your hotel in Negombo. Check-in at the hotel and spend the rest of your day at leisure. Overnight stay at Negombo. 

Dambulla

Day 2

After breakfast leave for Dambulla. En route visit Dambulla Cave Temple. Dambulla Cave Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Sri Lanka, is a stunning rock temple complex featuring over 150 Buddha statues and intricate cave paintings dating back to the 1st century BCE. Nestled within a massive rock formation, this sacred site offers breathtaking views and a glimpse into the island's rich Buddhist heritage. Overnight stay at Dambulla.


Day 3

Morning, visit Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Sigiriya Rock Fortress is situated in the north central province belonging to the 'Cultural Triangle', in the dry lowlands of Sri Lanka. Climb the 5th century AD fortress palace built by King Kasyapa, but suspected to have been in use by Mahayana Buddhists for many centuries previously. The rock is an inselberg, which dominates the landscape and was both a military refuge as well as an aesthetic refuge for king who was a patron of the arts. The frescoes of the bare breasted heavenly maidens, which remain are a fragment of a band, which may have held over 500 figures. In Arthur C Clarke's science fiction novel, 'The Fountains of Paradise', the king had the architect blinded so that he could not construct another heaven on earth. Afternoon, visit Polonnaruwa ancient city. Polonnaruwa, an ancient city in Sri Lanka's North Central Province, served as the island's capital during the 11th to 13th centuries. Today, it stands as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, showcasing the remnants of a glorious past. Visitors can explore the impressive ruins of royal palaces, temples, and stupas, including the iconic Quadrangle, which houses the sacred relics of Buddhism. The city's well-preserved architecture, intricate stone carvings, and massive reservoirs reflect the grandeur of its bygone era, offering a fascinating glimpse into Sri Lanka's rich history and cultural heritage. Kandy

En route visit spice garden. Afterwards visit Temple of the tooth. The Sacred Tooth Relic, housed in the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy is an object of veneration to Buddhists and the most important sacred relic in the country is. The temple is one of the most sacred places in the world for Buddhists. From ancient times kings have kept the Sacred Tooth Relic in their kingdoms as a symbol of power. History records that the Tooth Relic was first brought to the Island by Prince Dhantha and Princess Hemamali during the reign of King Kirti Sri Meghavanna (301 - 328 AD). It is a traditional belief that, whoever takes possession of the Tooth Relic, ruler or invader, has the power to rule the people.  Light Colored clothing with sleeves and trousers or skirts below the knee length are recommended.  Since this is a religious site – the footwear should be removed before entering you could wear socks if you wish to. Evening enjoy the traditional cultural show. Overnight stay at Kandy.

Nuwara Eliya

Morning, hop on board the morning train and journey through the Tea Carpets of Sri Lanka to Nuwara Eliya. The slow descend through the tea fields and hill country side with its winding tracks and misty panoramas, offers an unmatched perspective and wonderful experience. Special Remarks: • Train journeys will strictly be based on the current situation on this date. • Kindly note train times are strictly subject to change. • Lunch will not be provided on the train Your guide will drop you at Kandy railway station. Once you reach Nuwara Eliya, your guide will pick you from Nanu Oya the station and accompany you to the hotel. Evening Visit a tea factory, where freshly harvested tea leaves are processed through withering, rolling, oxidation, drying, and sorting to create different types of tea. Visitors can tour the facility to learn about tea production and enjoy tasting freshly brewed varieties Overnight stay at Nuwara Eliya.  

Tissamaharama

After enjoying your breakfast depart for Yala. En route stop at Ella and visit nine arch bridge and Rawanaella waterfall. Proceed to Yala. Check in to the hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay at Yala. 

Bentota

Morning Safari at Yala National Park. Safari at Yala National Park. Yala National Park was declared as a Game Park in 1938 and is 965 sq. kilometers in extent. According to the Leopard Research sponsored by Yala Safari Game Lodge, under the Jetwing Research Initiative, Yala Block 1 has one of the highest densities of Leopards in the world. Yala therefore offers one of the best chances in Asia to see Leopards. You may also see Elephant, Sloth Bear, Sambhur, and Spotted Deer, Wild Boar, Stripe-necked, Brown & Ruddy Mongooses, Black-naped Hare & several civet species. Afterwards depart for Bentota. En route visit Galle Dutch Fort. Check in to the hotel and spend the rest of the day relaxing on the beach. Overnight stay at Bentota.
