Invergordon is een stad en haven in Easter Ross, in Ross en Cromarty, Highland, Schotland. Het ligt in de parochie van Rosskeen. Invergordon is nu de belangrijkste muurschilderingstad van de Highlands en hoopt het succes van haar mentor in Chemainus, British Columbia, na te bootsen. Momenteel is de stad versierd met een reeks van 17 muurschilderingen. Het schilderwerk, gemaakt door een selectie van kunstenaars, vertelt de verhalen van de lokale gemeenschap en het gebied. Dit pad is het resultaat van een gemeenschapsproject dat oorspronkelijk was ontworpen om lokale gemeenschapsgroepen te integreren (in totaal namen er 17 deel). Het pad, dat werd geopend door de Princess Royal, fungeert nu als een grote toeristische trekpleister.

Kirkwall is de grootste stad in Orkney, een archipel ten noorden van het vasteland van Schotland. De naam Kirkwall komt van de Noorse naam Kirkjuvágr (Kerkbaai), die later veranderde in Kirkvoe, Kirkwaa en Kirkwall. Kirkwall was vroeger de locatie van een oude Noorse stad, ongeveer 1000 jaar geleden gesticht. Vandaag de dag is het een transportknooppunt met veerboten naar vele locaties. De Orkney Bibliotheek en Archief bevinden zich in Kirkwall. Kirkwall heeft ook de meest noordelijke van 's werelds Carnegie bibliotheken, die in 1909 werd geopend door Andrew Carnegie en zijn vrouw. Het gebouw bestaat nog steeds, hoewel de bibliotheek sindsdien is verhuisd naar een groter gebouw aan de Junction Road. De stad heeft twee musea, het grootste is het Tankerness House Museum, dat items van lokaal historisch belang bevat in een van Schotland's best bewaarde 16e-eeuwse stadshuizen. Het is een categorie A genoteerd gebouw in Schotland. De prehistorische, Pictische en Viking collecties zijn van internationaal belang. Het andere museum is het Orkney Wireless Museum, dat zich bezighoudt met de geschiedenis van radio en opgenomen geluid. Een van de belangrijkste jaarlijkse evenementen in de stad is het Ba-spel, dat elk jaar op kerstdag en nieuwjaarsdag wordt gehouden tussen de Uppies en de Doonies, elk team vertegenwoordigt een helft van de stad.
